On the morning of April 8 2025, Mr. Gombo Bumtsend, Minister-Counselor and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Mongolian Embassy in China, and Mr. Davaadorj Nyamaa, Third Secretary, visited the Global Value Chain Research Institute of our university. Professor Xiaopeng Yin, Dean of the Institute, and Professor Siyan Shen, Executive Dean, met with the guests in the VIP room of the Research Building. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on China-Mongolia economic and trade cooperation, cultural exchanges, and academic research. Jing Zhao, Assistant Dean, Ran Wang, Executive Deputy Director of the Laboratory, and Yongjie Liu, Director of the Office, attended the meeting.

Mr. Bumtsend expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception of the Institute. He emphasized that as a senior official in charge of trade and cultural exchanges at the Mongolian Embassy, this visit aims to establish cooperative contacts. He hopes to promote cooperation in three areas under the guidance of the important initiatives of the two countries in the economic and trade fields: First, relying on the framework of the China-Mongolia comprehensive strategic partnership and the "China-Mongolia Economic and Trade Cooperation Mid-term Development Outline", focus on the global value chain, and conduct friendly exchanges and scientific discussions on issues such as cross-border trade, digital economy, and green development; second, relying on the inter-school cooperation agreement between our university and the Mongolian University of Finance and Economics, promote academic exchanges and joint training of talents between Chinese and Mongolian colleges and universities and scientific research institutions, and cultivate new forces for the long-term cooperation between the two countries; third, based on the existing cooperation framework and agreement, promote cooperation between Chinese and Mongolian think tanks, provide forward-looking research results for policy making, and help deepen and implement practical cooperation between China and Mongolia.
Dean Xiaopeng Yin warmly welcomed the visit of Mr. Bumtsend and his delegation, thanked them for their high recognition of the work of the institute, and introduced the institute's international development strategy and the important achievements it has made in global value chain research and international organization cooperation in recent years. He pointed out that as a high-end think tank focusing on the field of global value chain, the institute has always been committed to building an international scientific research platform. At present, it has established long-term close cooperative relations with international organizations such as the World Trade Organization (WTO), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the World Economic Forum (WEF). We look forward to deepening cooperation with relevant universities, research institutions and think tanks in Mongolia to provide intellectual support for the high-quality development of China-Mongolia economic and trade relations.
Executive Dean Siyan Shen focused on introducing the latest research results of the institute in the construction of global value chain disciplines, the Global Value Chain Development Report, and talent training. She emphasized that the institute has always focused on the forefront of international development and served the national strategic needs. In the future, on the basis of continuing the original research fields and results, it will increase research efforts in the value chain and related fields of countries along the "Belt and Road" and promote the development and governance of global value chains such as digital chains and AI technology applications. It is hoped that relevant universities and research institutions in China and Mongolia can strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the field of value chains and jointly promote sustainable development.

During the talks, the two sides exchanged views on specific cooperation directions such as scientific research issues, high-end talent exchanges, and international academic conferences, and reached a preliminary consensus. This meeting laid the foundation for the in-depth cooperation between our Global Value Chain Research Institute and the Mongolian Embassy in China. In the future, both sides will take this as a starting point to accelerate relevant cooperation and inject new vitality into the friendly development of China-Mongolia relations.
